I started Cambridge Kinetics in 2021 because I kept seeing the same thing: important work running on disconnected software, spreadsheets and someone remembering the next step.
Fixing it usually meant an expensive project, a rigid system nobody could change afterwards, and a supplier who disappeared once it went live. I wanted to do it differently.
So we built a team of engineers and operations specialists who start by understanding how your business really works, often in a hands-on workshop with the people who do the work. And we built Kinabase, our own platform, so the foundations are already there and your budget goes on your operation. Where something else would suit you better, we say so.
Then we stay. We host and support what we build, and train your team to improve it themselves as you grow.
When AI arrived, we could see where it was heading, so we designed Kinabase from the ground up to make the most of it. We built what we believe was a world first: a tool that takes a plain-English description of how your business works and designs the system for you, from the records you keep to how they connect.
That head start is why AI makes our work faster rather than riskier: once your information is joined up and trusted, we can put AI to work on everyday jobs, sensibly. Innovate UK backed our research into practical AI through its BridgeAI programme.
We’re based at St John’s Innovation Centre, in the middle of Cambridge’s technology cluster, and work with manufacturers, charities and service businesses across the UK, EU, USA and South Africa.
